The Buckey Awards are named after famed sheriff/mayor/soldier/writer/journalist Buckey O'Neill.
The 2nd Annual Buckey Awards for Excellence
in the Arts is set for Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Prescott, Arizona’s historic
Elks Opera House. Brought to you by the Prescott Arts Beat radio show and the
City of Prescott, this celebration is made possible in part by Public Radio
stations KAWC and KJZA (89.5FM, 90.1FM) and other supporters.
These awards were established to recognize the outstanding
achievements of artists, performers and arts supporters who live and work
living in Yavapai County, AZ. This year’s award categories include: Outstanding
Visual Artist, Outstanding Literary Artist, Outstanding Media
Artist/Broadcaster, Outstanding Arts Educator, Outstanding Performing Artist,
Outstanding Arts Activist/Philanthropist, Outstanding Arts Organization,
Outstanding Arts Event, Outstanding Musical Artist and Lifetime Contribution to
the Arts of Yavapai County.
Nominations for these awards can be made online at http://survey.constantcontact.com/survey/a07e5i8skq9gxesnupa/start until midnight, February 17, 2012. After the ballots have
been received, a committee will select the short list of nominees, with this
year’s honoree from each category announced at the awards ceremony on March 10th.
Tickets for the Buckey Awards
show will be available online at www.elksoperahouse.com and at the Elks Opera House box office. The awards ceremony
will be broadcast at the same time as the ceremony on Prescott Community Access
Channel (Access 13).
